I found myself deeply moved and entirely immersed in the heartbreakingly human world C. M. Soliz creates, feeling every ounce of the invisible wounds carried by the
protagonist. What stood out to me most was the vivid contrast between Miguel’s unstable, chaotic childhood and those fleeting, tender moments of solace he shared with his beloved sister, Lucia. I was reminded of how easily the weight of empathy can become an unbearable burden when you are constantly silencing your own voice to accommodate the dysfunction of those around you.
I would highly recommend this haunting, beautifully woven masterpiece to fans of literary
fiction, intricate family sagas, or anyone who appreciates an emotionally resonant drama that champions a deep call for compassion.
This book made me feel like someone was truly watching me, just the graphic display of the victims and how they were discovered. Something, as I read, just kinda crept in, making me pause with every noise I heard while reading this book. I think this book really played into the psychological mind play for me, not the normal serial killer thriller book. The realistic value of this book is unforeseen with graphic, true scene layouts. Book moved along nicely and didn’t find myself bored, actually the opposite. Need a dark crime thriller with a twist? Read this one.
If you’re a horror fan, this book is probably for you. A group of people head out to search for a missing girl in an ominous forest known by the locals to be haunted. The suspense build up is nerve wrecking and gave me chills. It’s hard for me to write about it while not giving the story away. I’ll just say that it scared the hell out of me… I the most satisfying way!
